NEW EVENTS

Major National Food & Wine Show for Adelaide

One of Australia’s most popular consumer exhibitions, the Good Food & Wine Show will be held at the AEEC in 2010. This will be the first time this event has come to Adelaide and will give patrons the opportunity to experience amazing flavours, products, cooking & entertaining ideas. As a result of a very proactive approach from the venue and great support received from various organisations such as Flavour SA (The Food Industry Association), SA Great (Buy SA program), PIRSA (Food and Wine) and the SA Wine Industry Association, the event will take place for the first time on 8-10 October 2010. The 2010 Good Food & Wine Show will add to AEEC’s already impressive list of major consumer events including the HIA Adelaide Home Show, the SA Caravan & Camping Show and the Pregnancy, Babies and Children Expo, Glendi and Carnevale.

OUTSTANDING EVENTS HOSTED AT THE AEEC

 

HAA Gala Dinner- over 700 Haematologists from around the globe enjoyed a fantastic night in the Ridley Centre recently, following their Conference. A highlight of their evening was the three- course meal, with many of the guests commenting on how much they enjoyed the food and the evening as a whole.

Adelaide Fringe 2010 Poster Launch- this event was held in the AEEC Jubilee Pavilion early in November. In 2010 the Adelaide Fringe celebrates 50 years of history and Adelaide Event & Exhibition Centre is proud to be a part of this milestone. The Adelaide Fringe team commended the AEEC saying they “couldn’t be happier securing such an amazing space for the launch”.

Big Day Out 2010 A Sellout- for the first time the Big Day Out at the Adelaide Event & Exhibition Centre has sold out in 2010. This follows record ticket sales in other states and proves that this event, which will take place across the Adelaide Showground in January, is still a winner with the crowds.

 

ADELAIDE SHOWGROUND NOW A REGISTERED POWER STATION

 

The AEEC is now officially a power station. The AEEC’s Solar Power Generator is the largest urban solar power project in Australia, with a power generating capacity of one megawatt (1MW), equivalent to 250 homes. It will save around 1,400 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually and show that solar panels can supply electricity on a commercial scale. It’s used within the AEEC’s facilities or exported to the grid when excess is being produced. When the AEEC is not hosting large events, the system will export and provide power to the neighbouring houses and businesses in Goodwood & Wayville.
