Wayville Sports Centre

Wayville Sports Centre provides the best basketball facilities at the district level in South Australia.  It features three professionally maintained basketball courts, modern changing and catering facilities and up to 500 seats available for spectators to feature matches.

Wayville Sports Centre is home to the Forestville Eagles Basketball Club, one of the ten member clubs of Basketball SA. Forestville have a strong tradition of success at both junior and senior level and boast the 2006 Men's ABL Champions.  Prior to the recent changes in ownership of the Adelaide Lightning, the WNBL team played their home games at the Wayville Sports Centre.  The Centre has also hosted many state, national and international basketball championships on behalf of the state, including regular Masters Games and Police Basketball Championships.  It was the chosen venue for the basketball competition of the World Police & Fire Games in March 2007.

Wayville Sports Centre was constructed in 1998 as a partnership between the Adelaide Showground and Basketball SA.  Its design accommodates the requirements of the major Dog competition at the Royal Adelaide Show each September, in addition to the quality basketball facilities throughout the year.  The basketball season is planned around a four week break in August/ September to allow its use by the Royal Adelaide Show.

Wayville Sports Centre, also supported by the City of Unley, has been an excellent example of two community organisations collaborating to achieve an outcome superior to that possible independently.

Wayville Sports Centre offers a complete range of basketball programmes including school mini basketball, weekly evening adult social basketball, school carnivals, State Junior and Senior League competitions.  Details of events and opportunities are available from www.wayville.basketball.net.au
